UM Sets Pace to Helm International Accounts

March 11, 2010

- Steve McClellan

Interpublic Group's Universal McCann has hired George Pace as the head of international clients, a newly created position, the agency has confirmed.

Pace, who reports to UM global CEO Matt Seiler, will manage multi-regional clients not based in the U.S., such as BMW and Cathay Pacific Airways. In addition, he will work with managing partners to help guide U.S.-based multiregional accounts (such as Microsoft and Exxon) in international markets.

Prior to joining UM, Pace, who will split his time between New York and London, was a digital media consultant. Previously, he helped establish Publicis Groupe's Arc Worldwide, where he managed a roster of global and regional digital accounts. Earlier, he was with WPP's Ogilvy & Mather, where he worked with clients such as IBM and Ford.

Seiler said: "George brings a unique perspective to the UM team. He has been a pioneer in the digital space. He is an ace in the hole as far as I am concerned."

Pace, a 20-year industry veteran, stated that he decided to join UM in part because "the talent at [the agency] runs very deep, and this is an agency that paves the way for media and is altering the landscape for marketing communications. I am excited for the ride."
