Century 21 Picks MRM, Mullen

Media spending has been falling, down to $11 million in 2009

Real estate giant Century 21 today said it picked Interpublic Group shops MRM and Mullen for lead advertising and PR and social media duties, respectively.
 
Major media spending, sans digital, has been falling, down to $11 million in 2009 from $28 million in '08 and almost $60 million in '07, per Nielsen.
 
Client svp, marketing Bev Thorne said that with 90 percent of consumers searching the Web for homes, an integrated marketing strategy combining the strengths of the two agencies to connect with online consumers makes a good fit.

Dentsu's mcgarrybowen, the primary creative incumbent, did not defend in a review that began last fall.
 
Mcgarry had landed the business in late 2005; before that, IPG's Lowe handled the account for several years.
 
Century 21 is unit of realty conglomerate Realogy Corp., which also includes Coldwell Banker, The Corcoran Group, ERA, Sotheby's International Realty and Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate.

WPP's MediaCom is the client's media shop.
