Anime Ass-Kicker Is the (Unofficial) Face of Internet Explorer 11 Why not bring Inori Aizawa to the U.S.?

She is the futuristic, robot-fighting anime personification of Internet Explorer. And her name is Inori Aizawa. Designed by Collateral Damage Studios for an Asian anime event, Inori stars in a two-minute video of dystopian combat that's garnered more than 1.3 million views in just two days.

Armed with her wits, fighting skill and subtly branded Microsoft shield, Inori also has her own Facebook page, on which she tells us: "When I was younger, I used to be a clumsy, slow and awkward girl. However, just like the story of the ugly duckling, people told me that I have really matured and changed over the years. I feel confident in my abilities now, and I'm eager to show you what I can do. Why don't you get to know me a little better?" Special Inori editions of IE for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 are available.

Microsoft told GeekWire that Inori symbolizes the transformation of IE 11 "into a modern and powerful best-in-class browser." The company says the character was launched by its Singapore operation specifically for Anime Festival Asia 2013 and that Inori "does not represent an official mascot for Internet Explorer." (In Asia, unofficial anime incarnations of software are so common, operating systems and browsers like Chrome and Firefox actually have their own anime sub-genre called OS-tan.)

Given anime's global popularity and the general perception of Microsoft as your father's software provider, the company might want to reconsider and use Inori in stateside campaigns. Here, such an effort would be novel for the category and could actually build some buzz.

But for now, Inori, it looks like you're destined to be a niche player at best. When it comes to robots, you sure kick ass—but no one defies the maker of the blue screen of death! Via The Next Web.
